Hello,

They are completely different operating environments (operating systems) with different "commands".

Almost everything external is different - different JCL, different spool services, different messages, different editors, etc.

The biggest similarities are that both are from IBM and both share most of the 360/370 assembler instructions.

What is it that you would actually like to know? If you ask something more specific, someone may have an answer for you.

I still call them MVS and VSE o.k.?

TSO is typical for MVS and is not available for VSE. In my VSE days (> 10 year ago) there was a product called ICCF. It ran under CICS and was used to edit sources and submit jobs. Primitive comapred to TSO.

When you look for simularities then your going back (late 80-ties, early 90-ties) to the SAA strategy of IBM. Youre talking COBOL, SQL & REXX. When you talk about a "job" everybodey here thinks about JCL. This is certainly not the same.

Possibly.

If you post the particulars of this job, we may be able to tell you more. What language is it written in? Is it batch, cics online, some other online, other? If batch, include th jcl.

Are there some specific commands you are interested in? Asking for VSE commands is like asking for Z/OS commands - there are too many to list. . .

Hello,

Again, what kind of commands? Not only are there many, many commands, there are also multiple places where "commands" are used.

Before you try to list them, you need to qualify what it is that your manager wants.

I suspect that you or your manager know what you are looking for, but your requirement is not clear to many of us who are trying to understand.

It may help if we knew what your manages will use the list for.
