Is it possible to change the dataclas of a HFS dataset?
If not there another method to increase the allocate space without copying it?

I know I can use IDCAMS to change other parms such as management class etc...

Thanks in advance.

DATACLAS is the one that seems to remain unchangeable - for some wierd and wonderful reason. This has caused me a load of grief in the past icon_confused.gif

Not sure if ADDVOL will help in the case of HFS, but you might want to take a browse in the IDCAMS manual to double check.

if this used by USS then you can create new HFS and mount it (as whatever you want) incresing in this way available space

This solution is good if you have not enough space for data in UNIX filesystem

Expat: ADDVOL can help in the case of an HFS, unless the HFS has used all the allocated space. When we ran Lotus Notes on HFS files systems we'd use ADDVOL to extend the filespaces as needed. Unfortunately, we found out the hard way that once the filespace hits the space allocated you have to unmount and remount it for the ADDVOL to take effect.

Maddop: try using IDCAMS ADDVOL on the HFS filespace to add additional volume(s), unless you've hit the maximum already in which you will have to unmount and remount the file system to give it more space.
