Reformatting a file

Hi,

I have a file with record length 980.
The first 4 chars are seq no and the next 11 digits are together supposed to form a key.

my other input file has this 11 digit no but the seq no is not there.

I loaded the file to a VSAM. But now for searching i am not able to give any > condition.

Do i need to reformat the file such that the seq no comes after the 11 digit no?

Please let me know.

Or do we haev any condition check in VSAM?

I do not feel that the question is sort or a technical issue ...

it' s just an application issue of choosing the right fields to build a key

If you describe what your actual requirement is (rather than ways to implement a solution), we may be able to offer suggestions.

Are you trying to identify which 11-digit values are present/missing between the files?

Please post some sample input data from both files and what output(s) you want from your process. Explain what "rules" determine output selection.
