I want to download a file from pc to mainframe. The dataset is a 240 record length file, and when i transfer to my workstation the trailing blanks which completes the 240 gets truncated. Is there a way to retain the blanks??

Thanks

If your workstation is Windows, that is the normal behavior. You need to set the TRAILINGBLANKS option to TRUE:

In your FTP.DATA dataset

TRAILingblanks TRUE

or using SITE or LOCSITE:

SITE TRAILingblanks TRUE or LOCSITE TRAILingblanks TRUE

See the z/OS V1R7.0 Comm Svr: IP User's Guide and Commands manual.
