Both SORT utilities have more than 95% common in syntax, and 100% common in ideology of used algorithms (maybe, with different implementation inside of them).

I do not see any reason to strictly separate the questions on both utilities into different categories, or to "punish" or "blame" the users posting their SORT questions in a parallel category?

once upon a time

DFSORT answers were provided by the IBM DFSORT developers
( Frank Yaeger and S. Kolusu )

and
SYSNCSORT answer were provided by SYNCSORT support
( Alissa Margulies )

so it made sense to keep the forum separate

At one level I agree with Sergeyken, but while the two products are similar, they are not identical; answers that are correct for DFSORT may not be correct for SYNCSORT and answers that are correct for SYNCSORT may not be correct for DFSORT. For this reason I think the products should be discussed in separate areas, if only so the chances that a questioner should get a valid response are greater.

The meaning of this is, that people do not receive advices in the form: what operation, and why needs to be done, but instead what statement/parameter/letter/digit/comma to type-in in the given order. Or even they receive a ready-to-copy-and-paste code without a minor understanding of the actual idea of processing.

I call this category of answers "the advices for trained monkeys".

The general processing logic to understand is 100% the same for both utilities. Those who cannot apply specific syntax to a common algorithm need to be forwarded to the Beginners Forum.
