Can I access the child segment without the root segment key

Hi all,

I have a request where I have to 3 segments lets say
x
y
z
where the parent of y is x and the parent of z is x.
I have the key of x & z. but I dont have the key of y..can I access the segment z directly since I have the key of z.

Hi,
You can fetch the segment Z without acessing the segment Y by the following way.

Establish parentage at X by GU call with key value of X moved to SSA
Then give GNP call with key value of Z moved to SSA.

Now you can retrieve the segment occurence information from the IO area.
