Count of records in IMS DB

Hi,

Is there any tool or utility is availble to count number of records in an IMS
DB.

could you please let me know what is STATISTIC or ANALYZER? Is this is separate utility, do the normal user will have access to run that tool?

Don't know your shop but usually the DBA takes care of it. The DBA analyses and reorganises. As a user you could write a program using GN and keep track of the segment types or use DLITEST.

Hi George,

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Can't we have an unqualified call for the whole IMS-DB and also have a counter which gets incremented after every successful call. In this way we can come up with the total number of recs in a particular IMS-DB.

Plz let me know if this is unclear or if I am wrong somewhere?
