i have 4 steps in the jcl. Ist step i create 1 gdg version. 2nd step i process some jcl... and 3rd step i delete the gdg version.... 4th step i process some statement...what is the current version of gdg

This is a ludicrous example, but if you created a new VERSION (not a new generation) in STEP1, and then deleted the same VERSION (again, not the generation) in STEP3, then I guess you would have no current version.
