As we have reached over 40,000 members, we decided to update our official Forum rules (instead of celebrating it!).
1. Start a NewTopic
Quote:
Start a new topic to post your queries. Do not ask your doubts as a reply to another post. Posts are to be made in relevant category/Forum. If you can't find one, post in Other Mainframe topics(e.g. Do not post SQL queries in COBOL Forum).
2. Use Meaningful Title
Quote:
Make your topic title meaningful and descriptive. Do not use words such as 'Urgent'/ 'Please'/ 'Help!' or 'Important' in your subject line. Don't use the Forum name as your topic title. In a nutshell, provide as much relevant information as possible you have. At the same time, let the post be short, to the point and not long stories ..
3. No email-ID
Quote:
Never post your Email-IDs, IRC links in the Posts or signature. Don't attach your resumes/CV. If you have to submit your resume, upload it to mainframeindia.com and submit the link thru a Private Message.
4. Don't Shout
Quote:
Do not use all CAPS, big text size, excessive question marks (?) or exclamation points (!) in your subject or content, the reason being is that this is considered as shouting
5. Search before Post
Quote:
Try to solve the problem yourself and make sure you have used the 'Search' facility before posting. You may be warned by the moderator, if your query already discussed and solved in our forums. If you are not satisfied with the previous solutions, post the query in the relevant/FAQ forum with your 'search' history
Here are the updated Rules in detail and it's your responsibility to keep upto date with changes to the rules. Have a look at:

Note: These Forum rules are not applicable for the site moderators and Administrators. Guidelines for Moderators are available at: http://www.ibmmainframes.com/viewtopic.php?t=14 |

Can you also include a ban/warning for members who post PROD JCL/CODE without a thought. I see many threads where JCLs/PROCs are posted without masking prod datasets. Incidents like these may pose a serious information security breach.

Hello,
And they may not. If your site has concerns about this, you should not post anything "real".
Many threads have "fake" names - some have "real" dsns.
I believe this should be up to the poster and not the forum. Just my $.02. |
