Hi,

Can any body tell me the process/way to find the retention period of any physical sequential file that exists on 1) tape and 2) disk.

I require this because I need to change the retention period of a file from 400 to 1825. After doing this change I want to test/review/confirm whether the change in the retention period has actually taken place.

Any help in this regard is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Alok

Go talk to your storage people, they usually control data retention.

How they do it is rather site specific and also depends on the ILM and TMS products installed at your shop.

And if you are intrested to know what is the current Management Class, go to 3.4 & get Data Set Information using "S" or "I".

Hi ,

Your Storage management only can help for this .
I think to do this in test you need to change RMM , and you need access to do this . Try with them .

In my project I am using RMM . Not very informatic about CA-1 .
But again I think Storage will be keeping updates centralised , So it can be done by them .

Correct me if I am wrong .. !!!

The shops I've worked at that use CA-1 allow programmers to inquire but not update TMC records. As suggested, see your storage people.
