Hi to all,

AS i Know, Db2 is more popular and widely used database nowadays. But i saw somany projects till today using IMS. Infact the next project of me, needs the same. SO i would like to know from anybody, Is ims completely differs from Db2 ?
HOw many days are required to learn it ?
Suggest me a good ref. book ?
And also i would like to know if i have given projects involving db2 and ims which one should i opt and why ?

IMS is a Hierarchical DB, while DB2 is a Relational DB. Structure for both is completely Different. You can say, both are not related in any manner.

It simply depends on your approach and the way.

one more question of mine is,

1. I heard people saying that IMS is going to die completely in matter of times. Is it ture.? Because i wanna be choosy in selecting when i have the
options of both kinds of projects with me.

It can be true up to an extent as now some IMS DBs are getting migrated to others.

If it is like that........DB2.
