Yes, our emulator will work as long as you have the mainframe connectivity! icon_smile.gif

Hi Mac, do we have some kind of a mainframe simulator available with these CD's where in we can run some programs for practice?

And do we have any sales location in Pune where we purchase.

Thanks.

Yes, we have some simulators in the CD pack, but you need to buy the OS License from IBM to compile/run the programs in your PC. If you cant afford the z/OS, you can try some old versions of MVS/Linux. But the trial version of Microfocus simulator will help you to practice the programs without any license.

No, we don't sell the CD Pack thru any shops, you have to order online at: http://mainframesindia.com

The concept of the product is not to simulate the real time system as the simulators are available at free of cost.

They are to improve your mainframe skills, if you have the interest to learn. If your knowledge on mainframe technologies is 80-100% or 0-20%, you will find the CDs useless. At 80-100% you have nothing to learn from resources and at 0-20% its better to learn the basics from a training institute.

Why don't you try the DEMOs at:

Hi Mac,

The question popped up because of this information on http://www.mainframesindia.com/

VISION Mainframe Simulator
-- VISION Mainframe Simulator Full Version - An easy to use mainframe workbench simulator with sample programs.

Hercules Mainframe PC Emulator
-- Hercules Mainframe Emulator for Windows with Installation manuals and all required software Add-Ons (not the OS!)

I was curios to know what would these simulators do on my PC (run programs or jobs) if i use a Windows OS or Linux OS?

And is there a link from wherein i could download the free version of MVS/Linux?

Hope i not bothering you too much. Just wanted to make sure I am buying the right thing for myself.

Thank you.

hercules ... the word tells ... emulates a mainframe
it ill run on all the platforms ..
all the windows sp/vista ( 68 also IIRC )
all the linux
mac os x intel or PPC
I successfuly built it and I have currently running
on mac os x leopard in 64 bit mode
solaris
there are ready to run packages for all the major platform
( my best choice would be to rebuild allways )

it will run any operating system designe for IBM MF architecture...
OS/360, all the MVS flavors 24/31/64 bits up to zOS
all the VM Sstuff and all the linux 31/64 bits
where the guest supports it there is full TCP/IP connectivity

here are a few useful links
hercules itself

the ready to run mvs 3.8 turnkey

and the relative yahoo groups
hercules http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/hercules-390/
turnkey http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/turnkey-mvs

here is a link to linux on mainframes
