Everybody is shouting about Global Warming, but do you know you can too SAVE the world?

STOP GLOBAL WARMING:

Issued in public interest by IBMMAINFRAMES.com

1. Throw away all you incandescent light bulbs (the classic 60w glass bulbs) and replace them with Milky WHITE / Fluorescent light bulbs (the funny-looking PHILIPS spring bulbs). Or at least stop buying any more incandescent bulbs.

2. Never use your REMOTE Control to Turn Off your TV ( atleast at Night). Stand up and switch off the TV. Even when electronic devices are turned off, they use energy. Plug Off your Stabilizers for the A/C or Refrigerator when not going to use them for a long time.

3. Avoid using the Standby mode for your computer/laptop. Turn it off completely or Hibernate. Set your Monitors to Turn off automatically after 5-10 mins of inactivity. Close your Laptop monitors when not in use. Use Black color Wallpaper for CRT monitors. Don't use any screen savers for LCD monitors. Switch off your UPS, if you are not going to use your PC today.

4. Never buy another Top Loading Washing Machine. if possible, replace it with a good Front Loading Machine.

5. Avoid keeping "ON" the Refrigerator unless you really need it. Use more than one refrigerator in a Home, if you ready to go Hell.

6. Take you bath in Shower, other than using buckets of water. Avoid using Water Heaters.

7. Clean your Air conditioner inlets at least once in a month.

8. Avoid Plastics. Use Cloth Bags and reusable plastics.

9. Use the Internet to pay and receive your Bills. Avoid Paper Bills. Use E-Cheques and E-Billing.

10. Change your car air filter every 5000 kms, Clean your Catalytic converters every 20,000 kms.

11. Prefer a CNG/Petrol car than a Diesel car.

12. Save fuel by carpooling with friends and co-workers.

13. Try to shop locally and reduce the amount of energy required to drive your products to your home.

Any more tips are welcome...

The single biggest thing we as individuals can do to fight global warming is to go vegetarian....a recent UN report

... a university of chicago study concluded that switching from a typical american diet to a vegetarian diet reduces your contribution to global warming more than if you switched from a regular car to a hybrid. Not to mention all the other environmental damage done by the meat industry, or the horrific suffering of the animals.

The meat industry contributes to 27% of global warming (that's more pollution than all the vehicular traffic of the world put together!!)

If we were all vegetarian we'd have to grow more crops?
If that's what you meant, then you should know that we currently feed 70-80 percent of grain to animals, and it takes 5-10% more grain fed to an animal to get 100 calories from meat than if we just ate the grain in the first place. Going vegetarian would mean we could reduce our yield by 50 percent and still feed everyone, which fits perfectly with switching to lower yield organic agriculture.
