If you are in a multiprocessor environment, each processor?s JES2 Subsystem independently controls the job inputs, scheduling and output datasets.

In JES2, allocation of datasets required by a step are done only just before the step executes.


JES3:

Using a common JOB queue and centralized control over the local processors, JES3 Subsystem distributes the job inputs to them.

JES3 allocates datasets for all the steps before the job is scheduled
