hi

i hve studied Mainframe course in an institute. I hve some doubts in real time projects. Can anyone clear my doubts plz ?

1) How can we design a screen in realtime ?

2) how can we accept inputs(in realtime)?
( i can pass inputs in runjcl)

3) how can we execute a program ?
( i can run compile and run jcl in institute)

4) what are all the environments involved in project?
(i need detailed explanation plz).
( such as devopment env, testing ....)

5) What is enhancement, maintenance and production support?

6) in production support how can they find out abends or bugs ?

hi karhi,

1. we design it thru maps or xml or sdf.

2. we give direct inputs just as u do in ur institute

3. we have tools to this
different companies will have different tools

4. the regions involved in project are production region,development region,testing region and emergency region

hi karthi,

normally we use tools like endeavor for executing a program in real time.
but what happens is that we have to retrieve aa element from the production region to the development region.it is only in the development region we can do all the changes but it is not possible to modify in the production region.

while retrieving the element from the production region we must specify the loadlib which has the naming convention as:'endeavor.devp.loadlib'

moreover different companies use different tools for compiling

hi karthi,

production support people find out the bugs and abends just by monitoring the jobs.there'll be a seperate team to do this in every company.

enhancement: modifying or adding a new modules,jcls,procs,files etc to an existing system

maintenance: to just monitor the running jobs and getting request from the client that is we call in technical terms as source control request(scr)

Hi,

Production Support not only involves in bug fixing. We have to do mail support also. We have also to execute any adhoc request. Basically Production Support work is 24*7
