|

hi,
Can someone help me in knowing any solution for restoring a dataset or a VSAM to a particular time or lets say before the job which updated it.
I mean to say the job mistakenly updated the dataset and i want the image of the dataset prior to the job.
I need it urgently.
Quick respose is highly appreciated!!! |

Hi,
What a subject title is this ? And why three more different threads for the same question without any further info in them ?

If the file of intrest is with DISP=(,CATLG,DELETE) & there was no backup available before the "updation"- you can't "recover" the data. Might be there can be other alternative/s but you need to explain little more about what happened at your end. |

I mistakenly wrote the incorrect title ...
The reason i posted in four forums being i was not sure of the exact forum from where i can get help.
I posted in the relevant forums which i think might help me.
I think that i have heard somewhere that MVS does creates an internal versions(archive) of files for any updates and a utility can be ISPF command or JCL utility can be used to restore the updated dataset...
But I m unable to recall ..Do anyone have any idea about it..?? |

Hi,
You could post in a single forum, some moderator might have moved it to the appropriate forum.
Quote: JCL utility can be used to restore the updated dataset I'm not aware of usch a utility, probably SMF records can be your choice.. |

Did you take a backup immediately before the update ?
If not, then you need to restore from the latest backup and rerun and subsequent processing that has been applied. |

No need to post in 4 forums.
Here some are at 5000 km from you or more.
The response is only in your company; talk to your system team/your storage management team to check for saves. |
