Abend log is a template maintained in Mainframe.It provides you the info about abnormal execution details in production.when it has happened,who resolved it,resolution time,solution for the problem,exact error code details and some other abend or abort related informations.It is frequently used by production support peoples.They have it for furture reference.For each and every abend they log the details in the template.

Job log is log detail by produced by job.It contains the information like when job started and when it ended and how amny cards are read, how many record are printed in sysout, how many punch record and all details like what are the dataset involved and what are created new, what is version and all details.
Where as abend log contains the information only if there is any abend in any job, like which statement cause the abend or it may give the offset address where abend happend. Abend details contains what is value of PSW and all other register contained at the time. At the same time it will give what type abend occured.
Hope this will give you some idea.

| how to open the abend log and how can we search for the abend in that abend log can u explain? and one more thing is there any solution available for that abends in that abend log |

Hello,
Not every system has a formal "abend log". To find out if your system does have an abend log, you could talk with your scheduling or system support people and if there is one, they can also provide info on how to use it.
There is always the console log and the SMF data. Again, someone in your organization can tell you what tools are available and if you have the necessary permissions to use them.

If you are asking if the abend log tells how to solve the abend - no, probably not. |
