Good one. I was intelligent enough to learn these operators myself in my fifth grade

the op asked about arithmetic signs,
square root and cubic root are not

even parentheses in this context are out.. only precedence should be used

so the only good answer is the one posted by Anuj ( the parentheses are of no use )

we might discuss if the factorial symbol is to be considered an arithmetic sign

but given the statement in quotes the quiz is... just plain wrong

I am not complaining about the knowledge of a fifth grader,
I am just complaining about the bad posed quiz :D

I do not think one can solve these puzzles without using the mathematical symbols (square and cube roots incl...). If you guys have a solution let me know.

It's OK as it is posted in the Fun Stuff Section and not in a proper quiz forums.

Prasanthhere,

Are you there? Pls come to my rescue :)

Credit Goes to AAru .

You are right you cannot solve that with out using square root or cube root

Hi Prasanthhere

my remark, was not addressed at You,
but certainly those who invented the quiz, had something more in their mind

before posting my comments about arithmetic sign I searched a bit about arithmetic symbols

why should I remove it  it just makes a good argument for some healthy math discussion
