"Why do we need to code a extra byte , whenever we are coding record
length for printer files?

What kind of information does this extra byte contains?
Does it contain information related data transfer like baud rate and other
parameter correct me if I am wrong?

When creating code for a text-based print file (which I haven't done in a looong time), I always reserve two bytes at the beginning of the dataset. The first is for any ANSI Carriage Control characters I may want to use, and the second is for any Table Reference Character (TRC) characters I may want to use for printer font control.

That is for Carraige Control.
If you open your report in VIEW or EDIT mode I think you can see them.
