Sounds like a home-grown program.

This utility matches two input files, generating as outpot a dataset containing those registers in one input dataset that are not in the other. In JCL it is implemented like DFSORT, you write in the sysin on what fields the matching is done.

This is the only thing I know about vsgener. I came accross this forum looking for a handbook on this utility. I googled vsgener and it resulted this page only.

I would appreciate it if anyone in this forum knows of a handbook on this utility. Thanks in advance.

This program is used in the company where I work. I know only what I have seen in JCLs. You write in them something like this:

//SYSIN DD *
PESQOUT 84,4,1/5,4,9/9,10,13
SELECT 1,125,11

Numbers in PESQOUT meaning that you compare the DSNs using fields starting in positin 84, 4 bytes, then position 5, 4 bytes and finally position 9, 10 bytes. I don't know what the third number means, neither do I know what does the select statement indicates.

I know nothing about setting programs in the operating system, so I can't help you on this.

Can I ask where do you work?
Because I know only one place that use this program and it's in Argentina...
I know what the third number means: the first position of the file out.
The Select statement means the layout of the file out.
