what happens when IDCAMS is used to delete VSAM?

Hi,

Please anyone tell me, what happens when we delete a VSAM file ( Consisting 1000 recs) ?
If we use IDCAMS to do so, will that VSAM dataset records get deleted or the vsam name gets deleted ?

Hi,

Is it possible to delete only records in Vsam(Either KSDS,ESDS,RRDS) with out deleting the dataset ?

Deleting records is not possible in ESDS, how ever it could be done in KSDS and RRDS.
