Hi All,
I want to allocate a PDS whose Space Unit is BLOCK also mentioned its block size & other information like dir blocks, rec length & its RECFM correctly. But I am getting an error
?MISSING VALUE FOR BLOCK
MISSING A DECIMAL NUMBER FROM 0 TO 65535? & so the dataset is not allocated.
Please let me know if you have any information on this |

It is unclear what the problem is,
Please supply allocation code that is giving the problem.

File i am trying to allocate a file with following allocation details:
General Data Current Allocation
Management class . . : xxxxx Allocated blocks . : 36
Storage class . . . : yyyyy Allocated extents . : 1
Volume serial . . . : zzzzz
Device type . . . . : 1234
Data class . . . . . : DCSTD Current Utilization
Organization . . . : PO Used blocks . . . . : 33
Record format . . . : FB Used extents . . . : 1
Record length . . . : 80
Block size . . . . : 27920
1st extent blocks . : 36
Secondary blocks . : 379
Data set name type : PDS
by giving the following details:
VOLUME SERIAL ===> zzzzz
GENERIC UNIT ===>
SPACE UNITS ===> BLOCK
PRIMARY QUANTITY ===> 36
SECONDARY QUANTITY ===> 379
DIRECTORY BLOCKS ===> 720
RECORD FORMAT ===> FB
RECORD LENGTH ===> 80
BLOCK SIZE ===> 27920
EXPIRATION DATE ===>
It gives the Error i already mentioned.
But when instead of BLOCK if we put TRACK/Cylinder it works fine. Why |

When I try this allocation, it works for me. Maybe it is some site contraint? Instead of using 'BLOCK' how does 'BLKS' work? Wish I could help more on this. Maybe somone else will have some suggestions.

Its OK David, enough of that error :-) , i could not able to find the answer of it, still if anyone have any idea of the Error i mentioned , please let me know. |
