Suppose you have a packed decimal field with Picture Clause of s9(20) comp-3. How do you retrieve the 3rd and 4th value using Cobol, Sort(JCL) ?

subramanianup,

Please explain exactly what you expect as a result.

i.e. if the value in the PIC S9(20) is -12345678901234567890 do you want, as a result 34 (positive) or -34 (negative) . If the value is 00000000009876543210 do you want 00 or 76 ?

Please specify, it will make a difference in how the data is gathered.

Dave
