I have a requirement to set the second bit of 1 particular byte at '1' in all the records in the INPUT File. The rest of all the field values should not change . Is it possible with DFSORT ?

Although DFSORT has built-in functions for testing bits with INCLUDE, OMIT, WHEN and CHANGE, it does not have any built-in functions for setting individual bits. You could do what you want with a large number of IFTHEN clauses or CHANGE pairs, but it would be easier and more efficient to use an Assembler E15 or E35 exit.
