Hi
the datasets which are catalogged will have entry in user and system catalogs so that you need not to give the information to find those datasets...where as datasets which are uncatalogged means wont have entries in user and system catalogs where in you need to provie volume serial to view those data sets.....
search the same in forums you will find lot many information .

HI
sudheer_kumar
WHEN YOU SPECIFY DISP=(NEW,CATLG,DELETE)
FOR CREATING A NEW DATASET, IT MEANS THAT THIS DATASET WE WANT TO CATLOG
NOW THIS DATASET WILL BE THERE IN THE CATLOG, WHICH MEANS IF YOU GO TO 3.4 OPTION IT WILL BE THERE.
AND IF YOU UNCATALOG THE DATASET THEN THAT DATASET WILL NOT
BE DELETED. IT WILL BE SOMEWHERE STORED.
NOW IF YOU WANT TO ACCESS THIS DATASET YOU NEED TO SPECIFY
VOLUME AND SERIAL NUMBER.
IF IT IS NOT CLEAR DO TELL ME, I WILL EXPLAIN WITH EXAMPLE
OK

People generally wonder how to know the volume serial number where the uncatalogued dataset is stored. The volume serial is shown in JESYSMSG log for the job. |
