hi ,

This is not simple topic to discuss in one reply

Please go through the documents relevant to these ..

Actually to reduce execution time , avoid the unnecessary sort operation , and find the best and efficient path for execution .

tuning can be done for



1 Tuning the System:
Operating system tuning, that affects DB2 performance can be broken down into three areas
Memory
CPU
I/O

2. tuning the Database
3. tuning the application
