Hi All,
I am doing feasibility study to convert legacy Focus mainframe application to new Technology.
I have identified two options.
1) simply go for Focus to Webfocus. This is most easy and simple solution if client is ready to buy Webfocus.
2) Re-engineering full application to .net technology.
I want more inputs on second option as I am not aware of .net platform and its limitations.
Please if somebody has some inputs then pls let me know.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,

Hi vidhata,
It seems you have a very huge task ahead.
Well, as far as 2nd option is concerned, why .net platform only?
I know a group of people who are even migrating from .net to other technologies like J2EE.
I would prefer J2EE which seems to be highly scalable and reliable as well.
However, I would love to watch this topic. |

Thanks parikshit123,venkateswararao.m
I know this is huge task but it is very interesting also...
I got some documents on TCS website related to migration...but all people are talking about reverse engineering and forward engineering....I am thinking how I can automate this thing...I know I could not able to automate 100% but if we could automate at least 70% ...then also I can save lot of efforts.
Pratik why you are suggesting J2EE and not .net...you have any specific points to support your views then pls let me know.
I hope we will share more on this..
Best Wishes,
Vidhata |
