| I have bought the CD from mainframesindia site and got MVS workbench simulator. I was able to install it and am able to open TRITUS editor which gives a feel of ispf. Can anyone tell me how to compile and run programs in it. |

I got a simulator software from the CDs of mainframesindia.com. Somehow managed to run cobol+db2. I will greatly appreciate if some one help me to run cics program by using any simulator they provide.

Can you explain what you mean by this? The normal definition of ping that I use has no apparent relevance to your statement:

| The way I understand it - Ping is totally wrong in this context, but unless 'am mistaken (and being from non-english back ground helps here) - he wants to send him the set-up files to install some simulator, e.g. a "set-up file", which might be needed to install hercules and then some more to make that working on his PC. |

Actually, i've not seen a pc that did not have internet access for a very long time.
Possibly, there is something i misunderstand. |

If You can post You have internet connectivity...
download all the needed files from the PC connected
transfer all the downloaded files to a USB key or burn a CD
and use the USB key or the CD to install on the unconnected PC |

Hi All,
I am very sorry. The Ping means 'revert with information'.
I have installed hercules on my desktop but when I click on hercules logo available on desktop it opens in cmd prompt and shows some time and other fields. I know mainframe completely but I don't know how to use hercules. Can anyone please guide me how to use hercules and how can I see mainframe screens on my sytem?
Is any frontend need to use for accessing herculus from cmd prompt?
I am new please guide me all.

There are plenty of them around me  . Internet is still like a luxury at many places in India... |

You don't "install something on Desktop"!  . After installation, you got to see the "icon" on desktop - but that is not enough for your Heculeus emulator to work; it's just an interface to the "other world". Please read the documentation Peter has pointed to. You can also look here, www.jaymoseley.com/hercules/install.htm.

| Installing Hercules merely installs the emulator. You also need an operating system and applications to execute. |

Interesting. . . All of the 3270 eumlators i see any more connect via tcp/ip - which is the internet protocol (been a very long time since i've seen a 3270 twisted-pair connection<g>).
If these systems cannot "go out on the internet", i suspect it is because the management does not want this rather than a limitation on the pc. Bummer. |
