Hi Sand,
When compared to ESDS and KSDS, RRDS is faster since the RRN is alternative reason and in RRDS the entire data set is a string of fixed length slots. Record in an RRDS may be inserted, retrived, updated and deleted both sequentially and randomly. In general RRDS is like a Direct File. |

Hi All,
Suppose ESDS/RRDS/KSDS all 3 files are having same 10 records.
I want to get the 5th record (for KSDS by the key value/for RRDS by the RRN/for ESDS by RBA).Which file will access the 5th record faster & how????????
Thanks

Hi,
I have a vsam file, with key as store po and store name.
I know only the store PO.
So i want to use partial key concept of vsam files to do it. Can any body tell me where can i get the code for this.
Thanks,

By practical we will be using KSDS & RRDS only. Mostly the familiar one is KSDS with most of the users. SO as per me i think there may be bit difference i dont think there will be much diff in time so when compared to that KSDS will do. The speed of record fetching for 10 rec is not a matter . When we go for millions of records the speed talks. KSDS will do..... but i m not sure. |
