Suppose your Last GDG name with Generation is
Pavan.G0002v00
then
GDG(+1) Crearte the next generation Pavan.G0003V00
GDG(+2) Crearte generation Pavan.G0004V00
GDG(+3) Crearte generation Pavan.G0005V00
GDG(+4) Crearte generation Pavan.G0006V00

Hope it is clear.

Regards
Rupesh

By this did you mean the change in file name only ? if yes, then I would say that the comtents in the the file is also changed for each generation. I think, GDGs are created by jobs which are scheduled to run in a prescribed cycle- say daily, weekly or monthly. So according to the inputs the data will also change.

But can somebody please tell me how to create the first generation of the GDG dataset. ie., the GDG(0) version ?

thanks

Hi,
if we want to create two versions in the same job then we will go for (+1),(+2) options.since the dataset is not catalogued untill the job is completed we will use this options.

correct me if i am wrong.

Hi Pavan,

Please, Please, Please. They are NOT versions, they are Generations.

PAVAN.G0001V01 is a new Version of PAVAN.G0001V000

PAVAN.G0002V00 is a Generation of PAVAN
