Hi Friends,
Heres my doubt...
i.e., Though the Mainframe memory is Big , O/s is fast and everything is good with Mainframes.. why there is no facility to store image files??
or Is there any way to store the image files in Mainframe environment???
Or simply let me ask, why is the Mainframe made a Charater User Interface?? and why not GUI???
I dont whether my putting here is right, but please clarify my doubts if u have the answer...
Thanks
Srinath. |

Since IBM is the properator of the mainframe it depends on them actually...

The same question i put on my first day of my mainframe class i got the answer as 'Since it was intro on the olden days to till day they concentrate much on security purpose and once if the GUI raises then automatically virus and other things may increase ' |

Actually, the mainframe environment is famous for it's ability to securely store and retrieve massive amounts of data, including image files. The (probably) most widely-used product for storing and retrieving images is the Mobius ViewDirect product. Additionally, the mainframe has long been used to store and re-produce raster image files, vector image files, graphics files, fonts, logos, images (think of a bank's check processing system), charts, bar codes, etc. |
