Hi all,

I want to know is it possible to do external sort on Vsam (ESDS AND RRDS) file.

If I am recaling you correctly then you want to sort VSAM like Flat file. If it the case then we can not sort externally. If not then please elaborate your peoblem.

Yes, DFSORT can sort a VSAM file to another VSAM file or non-VSAM file.

Thanx for your reply. I jusy want to know is it possible to use DFSORT on VSAM files using any field of the records as the key as we do it for PS file.

Yes, but you have to decide whether to treat the VSAM input file as F or V and set the starting position of the sort field accordingly. See the following for more information:
