TITLE: DB2 Systems Software Support

Location: Bangalore

Education: BE/ MCA

Desired Experience : 3-5 yrs

JobDescription:

? Maintain the DB2 systems software used within the current z/OS
mainframe environment.

? Maintain the DB2 subsystems running within the z/OS mainframe
environment, including the DB2 communication facilities that
communicate to other products.

? Install DB2 and related systems software (IBM & OEM) running in the
z/OS environment

? Upgrade DB2 and related systems software in the z/OS environment

? Customize and Tune the DB2 subsystem environment

? Provide corrective fixes to DB2 and related products.

? Interface with automations on DB2 startup/shutdown.

? Create and maintain the DB2 logs, BSDS, and DB2 catalog/directory
databases associated with each DB2 subsystem.

? Interface with Operations

? Build and configure new DB2 subsystem environments.

? Provide technical recommendations related to DB2 software and tools
upon request.

? Create and support backup and recovery processes for the DB2
subsystem environments.

? Respond to system related performance issues of DB2 subsystems as
required.

? Perform Table Definitions .

Technical Skills

Required General MVS Skills:

Basic MVS Operational Skills (TSO, ISPF, SDSF, basic MVS and JES
commands, etc.)

Basic CLIST & REXX programming/editing

SMP/E ? (product install & applying maintenance)

JCL

MVS Utilities (IEBCOPY, IBGENER, IDCAMS, etc)

Security (RACF)

File Management (VSAM, PDS, HFS, etc.)

Required DB2 Skills:

DB2 for zOS system support ,QMF,OMEGAMON tools

DB2 Problem Determination Skills

DB2 Performance Monitoring, Tuning & Reporting

IBM DB2 Tools & Utilities Support

BMC Tools for DB2 (Recovery Plus, Mainview, and various utilities)

DB2 Operational Commands (Start/Stop/Display/etc.)

Understands DB2 Fundamentals (e.g. DB2 objects, address spaces,
archiving/logging, DB2 Cat/Dir ,etc.)

DB2 Automations

Basic SQL skills (e.g. querying DB2's Catalog)

DB2 Backup & Recovery (D/R & local)

Remote Connectivity (i.e. DB2 UDB via DB2 Connect, etc.) using DDF &
DRDA

DB2 Security

DB2 WLM Stored Procedures

DB2 Data Sharing

Basic DBA Support Skills
