Retrieve message from IBM mainframe computer

Hi all,
Some one has provided me a diskette that contains a pure text file that is extracted from an IBM mainframe computer. He told me that he wanted to retrieve some very important message from that text file. Is it possible to read the message by making use of the notepad program in our Windows based machine?

It depends on how it got on the diskette. If it's truely a pure test file without packed data, it should be OK. But why don't you just try it?
