Hi,
We are planning to enable DB2 SMF compression. We generate around 15 GB of DB2 SMF from the accounting records and buffer pool statistics information.
The DB2 SMF is currently processed by MXG.
Is anyone aware of how much increase in CPU time we could expect to process compressed DB2 SMF vs uncompressed DB2 SMF?
Like a rough ballpark ratio.
Thank you,

SOURCLIB member NEWSLTRS mentions a 2012 study showing about 141 TCB seconds to process (decompress) 2 million DB2 records; I don't see anything comparing compressed versus uncompressed times. |

Thank you Robert, That gives some perspective. It sounds a little expensive.
I'll test the scenario in our test system and see how it fares
