Dear All,
I would like to read a VSAM file which is already opened by a other batch or online jobs or even by the other users, my request is to read that file(to take a backup of those records of a vsam file) which was opened by some other jobs in DISP = OLD, need your suggestions in this regard, Is there any way to read the file in SHR or OLD mode, which is already opened with DISP=OLD by other user, Is it possible to change the DISPOSITIONAL parameter from OLD to SHR dynamically, please guide me out in this, Thanks in Advance |

File is already opened with DISP=OLD in other job means exclusive control over file.
Can it be changed to SHR in another job. ...Is it possible.????

You can change DISP=OLD to DISP=SHR in the earlier job itself, If possible. Means if it does not necessarily require exclusive control like in case of update etc.
Or make some time difference between both the steps.
