Hi all,
Any one please help to clear my doubt.
When a Version number of GDG is going to change?
The last part of the GDS is given by the system like G0000V00.
Generation number will change as on creating new GDS, but when the Version number V00 is changed to V01 or V02?
Whether it is possible to change or not?
Thanks in advance

Yes it can change. However, for the version to change the JCL must reference the fully qualified data set name such as A.B.C.G0123V01; if you use (+1) only you will NEVER see a version change. |

Additionally, once you create the V01 version of the data set, the V00 goes away.
Only one version for a particular generation can exist at a time.
I have only done this once in the last twenty years.
I had fifty generations of a file. G0028V00 had bad data an needed to be replaced. I created G0028V01 to replace it. |

You could Google it to know more about GDG Version, as to what are they and their purpose. |
