Hi,
I have a CICS program that involves terminal communication using BMS Maps.
I need to invoke this program without a transaction ID.
Is it possible to invoke this program through LINK command?
If possible, once the program is invoked, if terminal conversation is possible with the terminal that I signed on? |

Are you trying to invoke the program as the first program in the PCT? In other words, is this program associated with a particular transaction when the transaction is first invoked?
A transaction is always attached to a particular program (or a series of programs) in a given CICS task, by virtue of the EIBTRNID of DFHEIBLK, which is extracted from the TCA.
I'm still unsure what you're trying to do.... |

Hi,
I want to test whether it is possible to trigger a CICS program without a transaction ID.
For creating a transaction id, I need to make a PCT entry for that using CEDA. I don't have access for that.
So, instead of creating a transaction ID, I am wondering is there any ways to trigger a CICS program which has SEND/RECEIVE commands. (Programs which involves Maps).
Am I clear now? |

Please read Enrico's post. He explains it well
But seriously, if the region uses PPT-Autoinstall, you could use CECI. |

You don't need access to do that. You need to talk to your site support group and follow the established site procedure for defining new CICS resources (such as programs and transactions). It sounds like you're attempting to bypass site procedures, which is never a good thing and often winds up with management taking action up to and including employee termination. |

Or if there is any test transactions defined already( to only test new programs in development env.) then you can use that for your testing but I wonder why are you not talking to your site support for the help and get the entries created as resource definitions are not suppose to be done by developers unless your site allows you to do? |

Thanks all. I am clear now.
I will ask our CICS support team to define required resource entries in CICS region. |
