How can we add a Secondary Index database to a HALDB database without using Index builder Utility?
We have lost our secondary database for an operational database. Now we want to rebuild it, unfortunately we don't have Index Builder, so we have to build it manually.
It seems the process is to unload the database and reload it again:
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSEPH2_13.1.0/com.ibm.ims13.doc.dag/ims_addingasecondaryindex.htm
however by doing unload/reload we couldn't create secondary index(secondary index DB remains empty).
Does anyone know how to rebuild the database, since in some of our programs we get 0880 ABEND.
Thanks in advanced |

Presumably your main strategy to deal with a trashed-beyond-repair database is backups?
I'd do some search-engineing for an IMS LISTSERV (a mailing list) to find a number of specialists. |

Thank you Bill. Unfortunately in this case there is no reliable backup on secondary index DB.
I hope there is an administrative utility for that. Because it is a huge database and I don't know whether reading the database by GU/GN and ISRT to DB is a good option or not, regarding performance. |

Yoiks. You need to fix, test and verify your backups immediately as well. Not only for this DB, but for any other DB backups, review for the same issue. Plus, if possible for the issue to exist in non-DB backups, review that as well.
Indeed review your backups full-stop. Once bitten, twice shy.
Register and ask on that mailing list. |

Well, life is sometimes tough. We don't have much regular IMS expertise here at the moment, which is why I suggested something else.
You can wait and hope, that is up to you, but there's no point in trying to encourage an answer.
If you do get a resolution, it would be useful to post it here. |

If there was a solution there was no need for Index builder Utility.
So why don't you obtain Index builder Utility from IBM? |
