I have only one CICS region currently, the customer have more workload to added, they suggest if it can change into a CICS multi region to handle this?

why need to have multi cics reigon, like AOR,TOR,FOR, I have one single CICS region, i can increase EDSA size to fill more workload. what time is necessary to have multi cics reigon?

There are two major reasons why many installations choose to use multiple CICS regions.
  • Classic CICS uses what is called cooperative multi-tasking. In this environment all the tasks run in what amounts to a single computing engine, even if multiple computing engines are available. This limits performance.
  • With cooperative multi-tasking. a single misbehaving application can effectively stop other applications.
