Hi,
I have a KSDS VSAM file with million of records. After the job has run some records say 50 to 100 new records in the VSAM file got inserted and 10 to 20 old records were modified( any field value got changed).
I have the backup of the original VSAM file ( before the job ran- another VSAM file with same data as backup) into a VSAM file.
My doubt is that how can i know the new records which got inserted in the file and the old records which got modified in the VSAM file.
Please let me know the procedure through Fileaid tool and what is the best way to achieve this. Is there any utility or tool apart from fileaid which can give me the desired result. Please help me on this. |

Please Google it with "file aid ksds compare" and pick the very first link, and that should give you what you asked for. |

You can write a job to unload(idcams repro) your VSAM files to temporary PS files and then use ISRSUPC(compare utility) in batch for comparing your both PS files. |

Is this a joke? You don't trust the update program? |

Part of the promotion process in many organizatino includes this kind of verification.
If your files are large, suggest you use your sort product to "unload" the data.
Sort performs far better than idcams.
Depending on your specifics, you might consider a JOINKEYS to see the maintenance. |

Why unload the KSDS? Rohit found a link. Or use SORT with the KSDSs. |
