Hello all,

I've been searching forum for similar problem but I could not find any.

When you are in an auxiliary storage shortage condition, you will receive
messages indicating the top users of aux. storage slots (IRA206I message).
Does anyone know's a way how to get IRA206I before aux storage shortage occurs? Or to get top aux storage consumers similar to IRA206I?

May be you need to change Warning Level well before IRA206I ... but I'm not sure how do we do that, may be I will try to see more on this.

Idea is to combine this with health checker ILRH0107E message witch is about reaching aux. storage treshold. It would be nice to display then IRA206I. Information about page usage can be obtained from, for example SMF30 storage and paging section per each job/adress space but it would be neat to get IRA206I in syslog icon_biggrin.gif

You might be able to use a monitor such as MAINVIEW or OMEGAMON to provide the requested information -- as long as your site has a monitor installed. You would need to review the documentation for the monitor in use at your site to determine whether what you want is available.

That would be nice, I know. No monitors at my disposal icon_cry.gif .

You could use MPF to trap IRA206I, and act accordingly.

Hi, thanks for your reply. It is not matter of traping a message , my problem is how to invoke IRA206I to be displayed in syslog. Normaly it is invoked after IRA200E by SRM. I want to check which AS is using page dataset's before shortage occur.

Based on what you have posted, I suspect that what you want cannot be achieved. System messages, such as IRA200E, are only triggered on certain conditions occurring in the system, and unless the manuals tell you that a console command (for example) can generate the message, you won't be able to get the message UNTIL the error occurs.

Hi, Could you not react to message IRA205I which is issued before IRA206I.
Many installations trap message IRA205I and issue a PA command automatically. They then can analyze the RMF/SMF data to see what happened.

Hi, yes that is not a problem of doing, just thought that it would be nice to have IRA206I in syslog sooner icon_smile.gif, but it seems there is no way of invoking it before critical shortage is reached.

Have you tried playing with SYS1.SAMPLIB(IRAEN55S) to see if you can get this to do what you want ?
