Date difference of 40 days

In my input file i have two dates (both layout PIC 9(009) COMP-3.)
I want to extract records where date difference id 40 days.Please let me know if this can be achieved using sort.

Have you looked at DATEDIFF? Examples in this forum, the manual, the internet, etc.
