Hi all,
I have a FTP job where i have statement like below
USSBXXXX.XXX.COM
Username passwrd
CD testfolder
put 'test.ftp.name(0)' ABC073113.TXT
where ABC073113.TXT Is the notepad which will be created.
andwhere, 07=month, 31=date, 13=yr
Job runs monthly.
Currently we are changing the Yr,MM,DD mnually in the job
Can this date part be automted.?
Is there any way, such that when job runs on 1st of every month, the name changes automatically.
Ex. when job runs on 1st Nov, the name of the file would be ABC103113.txt |

Job schedulers, such as CA-7, support this type of function. You would need to work with your site support group on the specifics since they will vary depending upon the site.
If you do not have access to a job scheduler, it would not be that hard to write a program in the language of your choice to generate the FTP command. And depending upon how complex you need to get, it may be possible to do something using your site SORT utility.
So there are a number of ways to do what you want -- which to choose depends upon your site and your expertise. |
