Hi All,
I am sorry, I don't have much knowlege on HDS(Hitachi data systems), can someone please tell me, if we want to move to HDS from a normal tape data set, what are the changes we need to do either in JCL or COBOL.
Please correct me if my way of asking this question is wrong and provide me any way to know more details on Hitachi data systems. Thank you. |

Are you talking of moving datasets from tape to HDS what
Tape, DASD, mainframe ..................
Hitachi would be the best place for information, as no one will know better than them about their own product(s)
Perhaps if you explain exactly what it is that you want to do then maybe we can help more |

To make your JCL work for TAPE datasets going to DASD (I assume) you'll need to provide a SPACE or DATACLAS keyword. Alternatively you could look at using Tape Mount Management (TMM) and SMS to divert the files and assign teh appropriate Dataclas etc.
IF you're talking TAPE to TAPE that is a lot more involved as you have all the considerations for maintaining the Meta Data in your Tape Management subsystem. There are products from DTP and Innovation to do that. |

HDS WHAT ?????
Are you moving from whatever tapes subsystem you use now to a HDS tape subsystem
Are you moving it to HDS DASD via TMM or something else
Unless you can be bothered to give a detailed description of what you plan to do there is no point in posting in the first place

Hello,
Is this "move" from a mainframe file to a mainframe file?
If yes, ask your tech support or space management people how these shold be defined in your JCL.
If no, you need to clarify just what you have so someone can help. |
