Hi!
My query is to get all the transactions with each one's count from ims logs?
The ultimate aim is to find all the transactions which have 0 count.
Any idea on how can we go about this?
Thanks in advance. |

Hello and welcome to the forum,
I don't do IMS, so I don't havw a direct answer.
With other database systems, this is in the reporting manual(s) or the administration info. Read about logging there.
Keep in mind that this is a holiday weekend in the States and fewer of our seniors are available.
Good luck |

Hello,
The below suggestion may not pertain to IBM tools completely.
MXG software can process the IMS logs and give you the transaction counts with a fair accuracy(not 100% accurate).
Do you happen to have SYSVIEW OR MAINVIEW OR OMEGAMON OR some other performance monitoring for IMS at your shop?
One nice tool that comes with SYSVIEW is CA-EXPLORE, it can get you IMS transaction counts in a easy way. I've used it.

As far as I know IMS log transaction record is written only when a transaction is invoked. So when you process the logs, you would get details of transactions which have non zero transaction count. You would again need some methodology to compare the the ims log output with the complete list of all transactions and look what transactions are missing in IMS logs to get transaction with 0 count.
Hope it helps. |

The old Type 1 command
/DIS TRAN ALL.
Will produce a listing of all transactions. This is a lot of output, so consider any effect on automated operations/consoles before you use it.
If ENQCT and QCT are both zero, the transaction has not been used since the most recent IMS Coldstart, which in many shops will have taken place months earlier.
There are some shops that coldstart their IMS systems very frequently.
If your shop is one of these, then this method will not work for you. |
