thanks again,
i'm in a dilemma whether to choose mainframes or SAP.. in singapore there r more openings for SAP than MF (until 2day according to jobstreet).. For 1 month MF got only 4 or 5 openings but SAP(including HR/basis/mm/pp/pm/fico etc) got 100+.. only few for ABAP.. but all 3yrs+ experience.. i planned to come to india in JAn 06.

i'm abit confused and not able to choose the rite one... pls can u guide me since u know abt both the fields.....
would u like to share ur personal experience here... AS u said u studied SAP first but now working on MF.. it may help me..

THANKS.

Hey I think you should plan according to your convenience.Since you
are staying in Singapore,,,,,and as per you information SAP may
be better for you.And what ever institute you choose...choose according
to your convenience and information with you.
Regarding my experince,,,,I learned and worked on SAP for almost
6 months and I left it there because I got job in good company and
they trained me on MainFrames(we have no choice there...we learnt
what they taught us that's it )ofcourse Iam happy with MF.
So,nothing bad with SAP.....I was shifted to MF..that's it ....
Since you are coming in January....from now start visiting websites
on SAP-ABAP and try to learn something through self study. You can
easily get all websites regarding SAP......just use google site okay
cool then bye
cheers icon_biggrin.gif

Hi,
friend,
It's better to join in SAP.cos, now a days Market is for SAP only.so,take advices from all ur friends & other IT professionals.if u do SAP technical.u have to work hard.cos,uc an't get jobs as a fresher.so,think well & decide.but, coming to mainframes, some limited companies are there.mainframes also having good market until money will fall down.bit not that much compare SAP.so,my advice is to take SAP only.u can get so many sap sites.just search vth patience.
ok see u..all the best
urs..

hey , since u r planning to go in for mainframes course, i would like u reconsider ur decision coz, open systems like .net, asp etc . are equally oppurtune at present.
however if mainframes is ur choice, than dont do ur training from, delhi specially , GET , DELHI N JAIPUR AND MAINTEC. both these are a strict no, maples pune , chennai is a gud option.

Hi nimbus,

If you want to study mainframes the best institute which i would prefer is CDAC,trivandrum.Even i got placed through this prestigious institute.

There are many advantage as well as disadvantages in doing a course in CDAC..

Adv...

1) No need to roam about searching for an interview..companies come to CDAC for recruitment.
2) Staff having 20+ years of experience..The first institute to have a mainframe..You can see 3 series of manframes if you get enrolled ...
3)Study materials with the licence of IBM and sessions like how to face interviews(personality development).
4)Lab hours and class hours are in the ratio 2:5.
5)Lab techies are also having 12+ experience.

Dis...

1)Most of the companies prefer freshers.Dont give up your current job...
