Hello Folks,
In my previous company, we had a macro what it does as :-
In the spool when we were checking the job log and we found any error/abend code, when we put cursor on that error/abend code and write QW on command line and then press enter, that command displays description of that error/abend code also possible solutions for the same.
If any one has such kind of stuff then plz share wth me. |

QW is usually the reference for a Chicago-Soft product called QuickRef. This product is not free, and hence your new site may not have it installed. If QuickRef is not installed, nothing you can do will give you access to the data you got at your old site. If QuickRef is installed, the invoking macro may have been changed.
IN BOTH CASES, YOU NEED TO CONTACT YOUR SITE SUPPORT GROUP. |

"QW" represents a software product named "MVS/Quickref" from "Chicago-Soft" ( www.chicago-soft.com/ ).
As far as placing the cursor on the particular error-message, which automatically displays the error-text, this might be a home-grown Macro or an extension of the "QW" product itself. |

As Mr. Sample says, QuickRef is a proprietary product, which your current shop may or may not have; experiment and find out.
If you do not have QuickRef, then I recommend that you look directly at the z/OS MVS System Messages manuals in z/OS MVS topic of the z/OS 1.13 Information Center. The center not only has the error message manuals, but a wealth of information that you will find invaluable; I still refer to it regularly after decades in the trade. |

You would need to contact the vendor to get a price. I am not aware of any free products to do exactly the same thing; you might check the CBTTAPE at www.cbttape.org to see if there are any such products there. The cost to develop your own solution would be prohibitive for most organizations, considering the thousands of error messages your code would have to recognize and make recommendations for. |

I usually invoke IBM LookAt with a two-liner by opening a command prompt (Windows-key + R) and starting my command LOOKAT passing the search string as a parameter, for example "lookat S913".
My cmd file LOOKAT is as follows:
Code: |
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" "http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/zoslib/lookat?required=&release=ZOS/V1R12&msgid=%1"
exit |
