I am using ODS EXCELXP.TAGSETS to put PROC PRINT output on the mainframe into a .XML file which is then downloaded to Excel. Everything is working fine but a couple of footnotes. The length of my FOOTNOTE statement exceeds 80 characters so I first tried

FOOTNOTE "Number of Active Duty Members Using VA Health Care
(n = &COMPHCOBS)" ;

In the Excel spreadsheet I had spaces between Care and (n = &COMPHCOBS) and it was not a good look

Next I tried:
FOOTNOTE "Number of Active Duty Members Using VA Health Care(n=&C
OMPHCOBS)" ;
With this attempt my macro variable &COMPHCOBS did not resolve.
Is there an easy way to make this right?
