Hi All,
I searched this topic but couldnt find the solution of my problem hence starting this new one.
GDG XXXX.YYYY.ZZZZ Defined as below
LIMIT-----------------30 NOSCRATCH NOEMPTY
A Monthly JOB A(Say) is Creating a GDG Version of above mentioned base and trigering JOB B after completion, JOB B takes the backup of all the versions of this GDG thru ADRDSSU but before that it recalls all the versions thru an asembler code.
Issue:- When Limit for GDG is reached and the 31st version is created the job shd take only the 30 versions but some it is including the version which should have uncatloged/deleted by creation of 31st version and abending saying that
DATA SET XXX.YYY.ZZZ.G0001v00 NOT IN CATALOG OR CATALOG CAN NOT BE ACCESSED
Can any one suggest ion this please...Thanks

First point - Version and Generation are both valid terms in reference to GDS. Are you sure that you really do mean Version.
What is the the status of the 31st Generation when you do a listcat of the GDG base. |

Why are you using NOSCRATCH? The manual says
Quote: |
NOSCRATCH If the data set is a non-SMS managed data set it is not removed from any of the volumes it occupies. If the data set is an SMS-managed data set it is recataloged as a non-VSAM data set in rolled-off status, and is no longer associated with the GDG base. It is not deleted from any of the SMS-managed volumes it occupies. Abbreviation: NSCR |

This might not sound relevant to ask but -- is this the first time you faced this problem? Is it a new Job/GDG-Base? Have you verifed with other GDG Bases, how they are defined?
As Robert has pointed out - why don't you use SCRATCH and NOEMPTY? |
